Step Up for Learning Differences on October 04-05, 2024 in Singapore, Singapore

Did you know that inclusive education has the transformative power to unlock potential and create a brighter future for students with learning differences?

The Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) is organising a 24-hour walking challenge, "Step Up for Learning Differences – Walk with Roy," (STEP UP 2024) on 4 to 5 October to raise awareness of learning differences and funds for the DAS Bursary Fund for students from low-income families.

Roy, Facilities Management Officer at DAS, will embark on a 24-hour journey to cover all 13 DAS Learning Centres across Singapore, covering 90 km in total. He will be joined by Mr Patrick Tay, Member of Parliament, who will flag off the walk on 4 October at DAS Jurong Point Learning Centre. The walk will culminate at DAS Toa Payoh Learning Centre, where Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for Transport, Second Minister for Finance and Adviser to Bishan-Toa Payoh Grassroots Organisations will welcome Roy at the finish line on 5 October.

Every step taken by Roy is a step towards greater awareness, inclusivity and opportunity for individuals with learning differences. His journey is more than just a physical feat – it is a heartfelt commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their learning challenges, has access to the education they deserve. Roy’s determination serves as a reminder that ordinary people like us can spark extraordinary change.

This walk leads into another significant event, the DAS Charity Golf & Dinner 2024 on 11 October 2024, where Ms Jane Ittogi will be the guest-of-honour. Together, these events highlight the association’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of understanding and support for those with learning differences.

Everyone can make an impact – you can join in by walking a portion of the route with Roy, cheering him on at the start or finish line, walking at your own time and own pace and submitting proof of activity by 31 January 2025, or simply donating to the cause.

Your participation, no matter how big or small, makes a significant impact!

All the funds raised will go towards the DAS Bursary Fund, which directly supports students in need of financial assistance. Help us create a future where education is a right, not a privilege.
