International Conference on Plant Biodiversity and Food Security in the Wake of Climate Change on November 19-21, 2024 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Globally, plant biodiversity is becoming a major concern for sustainability, food security, and nutrition. To address the issues of food and sustainable development amid climate change, degradation of the environment, and the rapid growth of the human population, it is necessary to investigate biodiversity globally. At the local, national, and worldwide levels, biodiversity is becoming more and more acknowledged as a critical issue. As a result, efforts are being made to identify realistic and effective ways to counteract genetic erosion and promote biological diversity. Modern plant biology and agricultural technologies are combined to provide solutions for preserving, enhancing, and utilizing plant biodiversity. With about 20,000 species of edible plants, the plant kingdom is enormous and offers a wide range of research opportunities for the development of new food crops, medical plants, ecologically beneficial plants, and industrially useful plants. In this context, knowledge of the vast range of plant species—which include edible plants, underutilized plant species, staple food crops, and several others that may one day become food sources—will emerge from an awareness of a plant's biodiversity as a basic component of our biosphere. Additionally, it is essential to concentrate on creating agricultural germplasms that optimize yield, quality, and the restoration and reuse of ecologically damaged ecosystems.

The purpose of this conference is to bring attention to ongoing and upcoming research projects that are essential to preserving and utilizing plant biodiversity. To attain food security and climate resilience, this calls for integrated approaches from several plant and agricultural experts who seek to assess and develop novel biodiversity methodologies.
