The conference will be held in a HYBRID form (both in-person and online), in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures. All participants in the conference will be duly informed about the current situation and possible organizational changes.

The venue of the conference is HOTEL ANEL, 14 Todor Alexandrov Boulevard (close to Opalchenska Metro Station), Sofia City, Bulgaria.

Deadline for confirmation of acceptance of the abstracts – October 15th, 2022.

Deadline for submission of a full text manuscript – November 30th, 2022.

PUBLICATION OPTIONS: 

Participants in the Conference are invited to submit their full text papers for review and publication into a special issue of AIMS Geosciences Journal. More information about the special issue, you can find at: https://www.aimspress.com/aimsgeo/article/6124/special-articles

Participants are also welcomed to submit manuscripts to "Psychological Research (in the Balkans)" journal. More information about the Journal, you can find at: https://journalofpsychology.org/index.php/1/aims-and-scope

All papers will be published only after positive blind peer review. Each author and co-author can participate in the conference with a maximum of two papers.


Neither registration nor publication fees are required from participants for their manuscripts accepted for publication. Both registration and publication costs are covered by Project KP-06-Н35/4, financed by the Bulgarian National Science Fund, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Coffee breaks and an evening cocktail are provided for all conference participants.

Participants shall cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.

The conference is organized under Project KP-06-Н35/4 "Psychological determinants of young people's attitudes to emigration and life planning in the context of demographic challenges in Bulgaria", implemented by the Department of Psychology, Institute for Population and Human Studies - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPHS-BAS), funded by the "Competition for Funding Fundamental Research - 2019" of the Bulgarian National Science Fund, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The forum is open for discussion on a wide range of issues and for search of different and new possible solutions via interdisciplinary approaches. Suggested issues for discussion may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Emigration and mobility: opportunities and challenges
  • Immigration: prospects for refugees and host countries
  • Internal migration under crisis conditions
  • Ethno-cultural diversity and identity
  • Life planning and life prospects under crisis conditions
  • Psychological determinants of migration attitudes and behaviour

The Institute for Population and Human Studies is an academic centre for fundamental and applied research in different fields of demography and psychology. The mission of IPHS is to carry out demographic and psychological research aimed at studying regularities and determinants of population and individual development. Analyses of reproduction processes and psychological mechanisms for regulation of behaviour with the purpose of assisting institutions in the implementation of strategies and policies for social and personal growth in the process of European integration and world globalization.
