Energy China Forum — Asia-Pacific Unconventional Energy Conference (ECF) October 20, 2026 - Shanghai, China

Energy China Forum 2026 — the 16th Asia-Pacific Unconventional Energy Conference will be held in Shanghai, China, from October 20 to 23, 2026. The conference will focus on how unconventional resources and subsurface technologies can contribute to energy security, the energy transition and regional cooperation across the Asia-Pacific. Unconventional oil and gas will remain at the core of the programme.

Under the theme “Resilience · Efficiency · Impact,” ECF2026 will serve as an Asia-Pacific platform connecting technical exchange, regional cooperation, innovation recognition, field application and technology commercialization in unconventional energy.

Since 2014, Energy China Forum has maintained cooperation with the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP), supporting regional technical exchange, innovation recognition and capacity-building activities.

Key areas will include shale oil and gas, tight oil and gas, coalbed methane, deep coalbed methane, low-permeability, deep and complex reservoirs, geological-engineering integration, drilling and completion, hydraulic fracturing, multi-well pad and factory-style operations, AI-enabled field development and intelligent oilfield operations. The programme will also cover selected low-carbon and subsurface energy technologies, including CCUS, geothermal energy and underground storage.

A distinctive feature of ECF2026 is its emphasis on connecting technical innovation with real field needs. Through keynote presentations, technical sessions, country and organization updates, project case sharing, technology showcases, award activities and cooperation discussions, the conference aims to support field validation, local application, project cooperation, business partnerships and commercialization.

The ECF Energy Technology Innovation Award, jointly organized by the Shanghai United Institute for Unconventional Resources and CCOP, provides an additional platform for recognizing and promoting technologies with strong originality, engineering value, practical application and market potential.

ECF2026 welcomes government and industry representatives, energy and natural resources authorities, oil and gas companies, oilfield service and equipment companies, technology providers, research institutions, universities, investors, industrial partners and international organizations.
